computer vision

A license plate recognition pipeline that connects plate detection, optical character recognition, and an API. Detection locates the plate in an image, OCR turns the characters into text, and the API makes the result available to other software. The project brings the stages together around one practical problem: turning visual input into usable plate data.

data structures

An exploration of fast, memory-efficient membership checks using a split block Bloom filter. A Bloom filter can rule out items that are absent and identify items that may be present, trading a small chance of false positives for a compact representation. The split block design makes memory layout part of that tradeoff, alongside hashing and filter size.

hardware & software

A desktop application with a graphical interface for communicating with an RFID reader over UDP. The GUI brings the interaction with a physical reader into a software workflow, connecting device communication with a usable interface. The project sits at the boundary between hardware and networking, where sending a message and receiving a response are separate concerns.

distributed systems

A messaging platform centered on communication between distributed systems. It explores how independently running components exchange information and coordinate work across a network. The design questions include how messages move between participants, what happens when a participant is unavailable, and how delivery expectations shape the rest of a system.
